Hand Dyed Lincoln X Coopworth Wool Locks
The color is "Amethyst Rose" which is a blend of beautiful pinks from rosy to very deep leaning towards purples in some areas.
This came from a cotted fleece which means that while the wool was on the sheep the area closest to the skin became somewhat felted so that when it was sheared it came off as a mat rather than a bunch of loose locks. In the video I show pulling an individual lock for use as fringe for felting. Work from the edges to pull the locks. From the center it will be very difficult. Once the lock is lose you can use a flicker and break up the cotted end for spinning. You can also cut the locks from the cotted ends which will make them shorter but it will make a lose lock without the felted end.
Average lock length is 6-7 inches if not cut.
So many things you can do with these! Great for felters including wet, needle and nuno. How about doll hair too!
Amount: 4 oz
As with any dyed product there could be some loose dye when you first wash. I have done my best to rinse the dye out completely so for me the water is clear.
